Job Description

An employer in the San Diego, CA area is looking for a Financial Reporting Analyst. The candidate will assist with accounting reconciliation, SEC reporting and month end closes. The candidate will be working on technical memos, impairments, and be in charge of closing the books every month. They will be responsible for Ad Hoc projects in the middle of the month, automating processes, and consolidations for the month end close. The candidate will not be doing general accounting, but instead will be focused on SEC reporting for 16 weeks out of the year, month end close for 12 weeks out of the year, and other Ad Hoc projects and memos for the remainder. The ideal candidate will come from the Big 4 background, and public accounting with a retail industry focus. Strong working knowledge of accounting, financial statements, and stocks is required.

Required Skills & Experience

- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance

- 3+ years of experience within public accounting for the Big 4, or 4-5 years of industry public accounting experience not in the Big 4

- SEC filing experience (8k, 10q, 10k)

- Ability to work in a fast paced environment and have strong experience automating processes

- Advanced Excel for Corporate Accounting - Pivot tables, Vlookups, IF Statements

- SEC Experience: Derivatives experience, income statement experience, balance sheet experience, Pensions experience (use actuary to calculate values on interim basis)

- Annual Reports and Proxy Statements experience

Strong GAAP experience,

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Active CPA

- Bilingual in English and Spanish

- Strong understanding of internal controls/ Sarbanes Oxley (SOX)

- Experience with TM1 for analysis or AS400 exp

- Experience working for a Retail company (Costco, Wal-Mart, Target, etc.)
