Job Description
Insight Global is looking for a Network Software Test Engineer to sit in Sacramento at least 2 days a week. This position would be supporting a leader in providing net-generation working solutions for the mobile enterprise. This position would focus on validating customer solutions meaning they meet with customers, understand what the customer problems, create a solution for them, test the solution to find any issues or blockers, work with internal teams to solve those issues, then being able to validate the solution for the customer at the end of the test period. This team is focused on Data Center solutions and revolving around the networking aspects and require candidates to have a great understanding of protocols, creating new network topology, creating white paper solutions reports, etc.
Responsibilities:
* Analyzes design documents and technical specs to determine test plan activities required based on specific objectives and established project guidelines.
* Executes and writes portions of testing plans, protocols, and documentation for assigned portion of application; identifies and debugs issues with code and suggests changes or improvements.
* Participates as a member of project team of other software systems engineers and internal and outsourced development partners to develop reliable, cost effective and high quality solutions for assigned systems portion or subsystem.
* Collaborates and communicates with internal and outsourced development partners regarding software systems design status, project progress, and issue resolution.
* Design and implement test plans to validate new technologies/solutions
* Represents the systems test engineering team for all phases of larger and more-complex development projects.
* Provides guidance and mentoring to less- experienced staff members.
* Driving production-level test infrastructure development, automation
* Developing tooling, services for reporting & monitoring of a production platform
* Creating tools, processes for automation & verification of app deployment
* Troubleshooting & fixing service issues
* Thinking creatively about how to proactively address customer concerns & preventing issues from spiraling
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong expereince with how systems work within a datacenter and ability to create topologies
- Highly Desired - Experience with cloud platforms/technologies - AWS, OpenStack, Docker, Kubernetes, etc
- Knowledge of data storage protocols including CIFS, FC, FCoE, iSCSI, ROCE, and NFS
- Experience designing and supporting production network infrastructure
- Experience supporting computing platforms/solutions including SAN/NAS arrays, virtualization, load balancing and high availability
- Team player -- highly motivated to drive things technically
- Good analytical and technical skills
- QA & test automation in a test-driven, production environment
- Driving production-level test infrastructure development, automation
- Developing tooling, services for reporting & monitoring of a production platform
- Troubleshooting & fixing service issues
- Thinking creatively about how to proactively address customer concerns & preventing issues from spiraling
- Knowledge of network protocols and algorithms (IPv4, IPv6, OSPF, BGP, EVPN, MPLS, VRF, etc)
- Experience with firewall implementations (layering, DMZ, SNAT/DNAT)
- Hands on experience with VMWare vSphere and Linux Operating Systems
- Experience with iptables, tcpdump/wireshark, etc.
- Strong fundamentals in scripting languages such as, Python, Perl, Tcl/Expect, PHP/MYSQL
- Experience with automation framework design and maintenance
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Plusses:
* Preferably with 4-6 years' experience or MS in Electrical/Computer networking with 2-4 years' experience
* Solid understanding of Networking fundamentals a plus
* Networking certifications (ACSA/ACSP/ADCNS OR CCNA/CCNP/CCIE) is a plus
* Experience in Data Center Networking is a plus
* Desired - Experience with cloud platforms/technologies- AWS, OpenStack, Docker, Kubernetes, etc
