Job Description

Due to continued growth, we are seeking a Portfolio Manager to join our Construction Lending team. This role is responsible for overseeing an active portfolio of approximately 300 construction loans, proactively identifying and mitigating risk, ensuring loans remain compliant with lending requirements, and supporting the overall health of the loan portfolio. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, organized, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where managing multiple priorities is essential. This individual will have the opportunity to take on leadership responsibilities and potentially manage team members as the department continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities
Manage and monitor an active portfolio of approximately 300 construction loans.
Perform ongoing credit risk analysis and identify potential issues before they become significant concerns.
Review loan performance, financial information, covenant compliance, and collateral risk.
Identify early warning signs of credit deterioration and implement proactive risk mitigation strategies.
Handle defaulted loans, workout strategies, and resolution plans when necessary.
Maintain accurate and organized loan documentation throughout the life cycle of each loan.
Prepare portfolio performance reports and present findings to leadership.
Conduct periodic loan reviews and audits to ensure adherence to internal policies and underwriting standards.
Partner with underwriting, servicing, and credit teams to ensure consistent portfolio management practices.
Support process improvement initiatives and contribute to the ongoing growth of the department.
Assist with mentoring, training, and eventually managing team members as the organization expands.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Monitor portfolio activity and analyze risk exposure across active loans.
Review borrower financials, project progress, draw requests, and funding activity.
Track covenant compliance and escalate exceptions when appropriate.
Maintain watchlists and proactively address potential problem loans.
Review loan files for completeness and audit readiness.
Collaborate with internal teams to resolve issues impacting loan performance.
Utilize Excel and reporting tools to analyze portfolio trends and generate risk reports.
Conduct portfolio health reviews and provide recommendations to leadership.
Prioritize multiple loan relationships and competing deadlines while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.

Required Skills & Experience

Minimum of 2 years of experience in, Loan Portfolio Management, Credit Risk Analysis, or Construction Lending
Experience managing a loan portfolio containing approximately 300 loans.
Strong understanding of credit risk principles and portfolio monitoring.
Proven ability to identify early warning signs of loan deterioration and navigate workout or default situations.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience utilizing AI tools and prompt-based technologies to improve efficiency and workflow.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in making risk-based decisions.
Interest and aptitude for future leadership and team management responsibilities.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Bachelor's degree
Previous construction lending experience.
Experience presenting portfolio analysis and risk findings to senior leadership.
Experience supporting or managing lending, credit, or portfolio management teams.
