Job Description
The Automation Engineer will lead the identification, development, and implementation of automation and semi-automation solutions across manufacturing operations. This role focuses on improving Quality, Delivery, Capacity, and Cost across injection molding, injection blow molding, inspection, assembly, and packaging processes. The Automation Engineer will work closely with external automation integrators and internal Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering teams, and will own projects using the A3 / Project Charter framework.
Key Responsibilities
• Identify automation and semi-automation opportunities across molding, inspection, assembly, and packaging processes • Partner with automation integrators to design and implement scalable, cost-effective solutions • Support NPD processes by identifying automation opportunities early in product development • Own automation projects using A3 / Project Charter methodology from concept through stabilization • Lead integrator selection, scope definition, design reviews, FAT/SAT, installation, and ramp-up • Establish baseline and target metrics for quality, capacity, labor, and cost improvements • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering to ensure compliant and robust solution

• Successful delivery of automation projects on time and on budget • Measurable improvements in quality, capacity, delivery, and unit cost • Effective integration of automation concepts into NPD activities • Sustainable and scalable automation solutions adopted by operation

Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
7+ years of experience in automation within injection
molding and/or blow molding manufacturing environments.
7+ years of hands-on automation implementation experience for injection molding / blow molding machines, owning projects from:
Process assessment
Design & specification
Integrator management
Installation
Ramp-up and stabilization
5+ years working with automation integrators and capital equipment suppliers.
Experience in plastics manufacturing, specifically:
Injection molding
Injection blow molding
Blow molding
Experience in life sciences, medical device, pharmaceutical consumables, or regulated manufacturing environments (FDA/GMP/ISO).
IQ/OQ/PQ validation experience
