Job Description

The AI Solutions Architect, Manufacturing Operations is responsible for identifying, developing, and deploying Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions that drive measurable improvements across manufacturing operations. This role serves as the bridge between operations, engineering, quality, supply chain, and technology teams to transform business challenges into scalable AI-enabled solutions.

The successful candidate will combine deep knowledge of manufacturing processes with expertise in AI, machine learning, advanced analytics, and digital transformation. This individual will partner closely with business leaders to identify high-value opportunities, develop business cases, lead pilot programs, and scale successful solutions that improve productivity, quality, delivery performance, and cost efficiency.

This is a highly visible role that will shape the organization's AI strategy and establish a roadmap for the future of intelligent manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

Manufacturing AI Strategy
- Develop and execute a strategic roadmap for AI adoption across manufacturing operations.
- Identify, evaluate, and prioritize AI use cases aligned with business objectives and operational challenges.
- Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and IT leadership to establish AI investment priorities.
- Create business cases, ROI analyses, and implementation plans for AI initiatives.

Solution Identification and Development
- Translate operational problems into AI, machine learning, automation, or advanced analytics solutions.
- Lead the assessment, design, proof-of-concept, and deployment of AI-enabled capabilities.
- Evaluate emerging AI technologies and determine applicability within manufacturing environments.
- Collaborate with software, data, and automation teams to ensure scalable and sustainable implementations.

Operational Excellence and Process Improvement
Apply AI technologies to enable improvements in areas including:
- Predictive maintenance
- Yield and throughput optimization
- Quality inspection and defect detection
- Process monitoring and control
- Root cause analysis
- Production scheduling and planning
- Inventory optimization
- Capacity utilization
- Supply chain forecasting
- Workforce productivity
- Knowledge management and AI-enabled operational support tools

Data and Technology Leadership
- Partner with IT and Digital Transformation teams to establish manufacturing data strategies.
- Drive the development of scalable data models, data pipelines, and AI platforms.
- Ensure data quality, governance, security, and compliance requirements are met.
- Provide technical leadership in selecting AI tools, platforms, and external partners.

Change Management and Adoption
- Lead organizational adoption of AI-enabled processes and decision-making.
- Educate stakeholders on AI capabilities, limitations, and opportunities.
- Develop training and change-management plans to support successful implementation.
- Foster a culture of innovation, experimentation, and continuous improvement.

Performance Management
- Establish success metrics and KPIs for AI initiatives.
- Track project outcomes and business impact.
- Communicate progress, risks, and value realization to executive leadership.
- Continuously refine and scale solutions based on performance and business needs.

Required Skills & Experience

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Operations Research, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in manufacturing, operations, industrial engineering, analytics, digital transformation, or AI-related roles.
- Demonstrated experience leading technology-driven process improvements within manufacturing environments.
- Proven ability to identify operational challenges and translate them into technology solutions.
- Experience implementing AI, machine learning, advanced analytics, automation, or data-driven decision support systems.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing KPIs, operational excellence methodologies, and continuous improvement principles.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and project leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical organizations.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Master's degree in Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, Operations Research, Business Administration, or related field.
- Experience deploying Generative AI solutions in enterprise environments.
- Knowledge of manufacturing systems including MES, ERP, PLM, historian, SCADA, and IoT platforms.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure AI, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Power Platform, Power BI, or similar technology platforms.
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or operational excellence certifications.
- Experience leading digital transformation initiatives within regulated or highly complex manufacturing environments.
