Director, Cloud & Systems Engineering

One of Insight Global’s customers is looking to onboard a Director, Cloud & Systems to their team to lead the organization's Cloud Infrastructure, Identity & Access Management, and Microsoft 365 platforms. This leader will be responsible for driving the vision, governance, reliability, and modernization of enterprise cloud services while ensuring secure, scalable, and efficient operations across the business. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise in Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, SharePoint Online, and Entra ID with proven leadership experience building and developing high-performing teams. This individual will serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, partnering closely with Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, and business stakeholders to align technology strategy with organizational growth and operational priorities. Currently leading a team of three engineers, this position will play a key role in expanding and developing the organization to a team of 7–10 employees while establishing scalable processes, governance standards, and operational excellence initiatives. This is a permanent and hybrid opportunity sitting onsite at one of the customer’s locations with 20% travel.

15+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, systems engineering, enterprise infrastructure, or related technology disciplines.
5–7+ years of leadership experience managing technical teams and strategic initiatives.
Deep expertise with: Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Entra ID / Azure Active Directory, SharePoint Online, Identity & Access Management (IAM)
Strong knowledge of: Authentication and SSO, Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), Conditional Access, Privileged Access Management, Identity Lifecycle Management, Group and permission strategy
Experience leading cloud infrastructure and systems engineering functions within complex enterprise environments.
Demonstrated success recruiting, hiring, and developing technical teams.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence executive stakeholders.
Experience leveraging AI-powered tools or productivity solutions to improve operational efficiency.
Leadership style focused on empowerment, accountability, and coaching rather than micromanagement.

Azure Solutions Architect Certification.
Microsoft 365 Certifications.
CISSP or other relevant security certifications.
