Job Description

West Sacramento and OGO.
Insight Global partners with a large local utility company and is looking for an entry-level Civil/Structural Design Engineer to support substation civil engineering projects. This role develops civil, structural, and environmental designs for high-voltage substations and supports construction drawing development, calculations, field reviews, and coordination with engineering, construction, operations, and maintenance teams.

This position is hybrid and based in Oakland / PG&E service territory. Travel is approximately 10%. This role is represented by Engineers and Scientists of California (ESC) and is subject to collective bargaining.

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; or equivalent education and experience including education and design drafting experience totaling six years; or education and experience totaling four years, including two years at PG&E as a Design Drafter or Senior Design Drafter.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Class C California Driver’s License, or higher, by day one of hire.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• 1+ year of experience in structural engineering.
• Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
• EIT or PE license.
• Knowledge of building codes including ASCE 7, CBC, ACI 318, and AISC 360.
• Experience with SAP2000 or equivalent structural analysis software.
• Experience with Microsoft Office.
