Job Description

We are seeking a Technical Artist with a strong focus on pipeline development and tooling, who can operate as a technical generalist across systems. You'll work at the seam of art and engineering — authoring Houdini Digital Assets (HDAs) for generating rich environments and building the tooling and automation that move that content reliably from Houdini → USD → a proprietary real-time engine at scale. This is a Houdini-grounded, pipeline-weighted role: deep procedural skill paired with strong tools and automation instincts, in a fast-moving AI-creation environment. (Focus is procedural generation and pipeline — not animation or character rigging.)

Job Responsibilities
• Build and maintain procedural generation tools (Houdini HDAs) for environment content — terrain, biome scatter, grass, modular buildings, paths, vistas, and tree LODs
• Design and harden the content pipeline and tooling from Houdini → USD → a proprietary real-time engine — including cloud-based Houdini execution, asset processing, and build/validation/deployment automation
• Develop artist-facing tools and automation that improve throughput across asset creation, integration, and deployment
• Drive performance and reliability — profiling, optimization, and stability across the content lifecycle, to mobile runtime budgets (polyreduce, LODs, billboards, draw-call/poly limits)
• Build shader/material features for environment content (triplanar, blending, biome-mix, vertex-color) and own the kit metadata + mask/output contracts downstream consumers depend on
• Help evolve pipelines toward AI/agent-driven workflows — wrap generators as agent-callable tools, build automated evaluation coverage, and translate existing Houdini systems into more automated/intelligent ones
• Operate as a technical generalist — plug gaps across optimization, debugging, asset workflows, and the C++ tool layer as needed
• Partner with engineering, infra, and content leads; resolve cross-functional blockers quickly

We are a company committed to creating diverse and inclusive environments where people can bring their full, authentic selves to work every day. We are an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer that believes everyone matters. Qualified candidates will receive consideration for employment regardless of their race, color, ethnicity, religion, sex (including pregnancy), sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, marital status, national origin, ancestry, genetic factors, age, disability, protected veteran status, military or uniformed service member status, or any other status or characteristic protected by applicable laws, regulations, and ordinances. If you need assistance and/or a reasonable accommodation due to a disability during the application or recruiting process, please send a request to HR@insightglobal.com.To learn more about how we collect, keep, and process your private information, please review Insight Global's Workforce Privacy Policy: https://insightglobal.com/workforce-privacy-policy/.

Required Skills & Experience

• Houdini — HDA authoring, VEX, procedural workflows (required, day-one). This is the team's core stack.
• Strong pipeline development, tools engineering, and workflow automation — Python primary; familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps concepts in content production
• USD and integrating content into a real-time engine (Unreal, Unity, or proprietary)
• Profiling, optimization, and debugging in real-time apps; experience shipping under stringent mobile/3D performance constraints
• Version control and asset-pipeline discipline (Perforce), naming/format specs, kit metadata conventions
• Shader/material authoring (HLSL/GLSL or node-based) and texturing best practices
• Strong plus: C++ in a real-time / Unreal-style environment (native tools, engine integration); experience with AI-assisted tooling / generative content pipelines; procedural content at scale
•Strong written and verbal communication across engineers and artists; works independently, manages own time, flags blockers early

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Technical Art, or related field — or equivalent practical experience
• Mid-to-senior level; track record building production-grade pipelines and tools for games or real-time 3D, with a portfolio or shipped work demonstrating procedural / environment tech art

Benefit packages for this role will start on the 1st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
