Job Description

The Product Line Manager serves as the business owner for the our customer's product portfolio and is responsible for defining product strategy, developing and managing the roadmap, leading supplier engagement, and driving portfolio growth. This role requires strong technical knowledge of fiber optics and transceiver technologies, sound commercial judgment, a deep understanding of market trends, and the ability to partner effectively across sales, engineering, marketing, operations, and supply chain. The successful candidate will translate customer needs and market insights into product decisions that support revenue growth, margin improvement, and market share gains, and drive innovation. They will represent the brand with customers, suppliers, and internal leadership, and will play a central role in shaping product direction, prioritizing investments, and delivering customer value through disciplined execution.

Product Strategy & Roadmap

Own product strategy for a fiber connectivity portfolio, focusing on data center, medical, enterprise, government, and telecom markets
Identify market gaps, customer needs, and competitive opportunities; build data-backed business cases (pricing, revenue, ROI)
Define and maintain both near-term and long-term product roadmaps, prioritizing high-impact initiatives and innovation
Lead agile, quick-turn product initiatives with suppliers and internal teams to accelerate time-to-market
Develop clear product requirements and lead end-to-end NPI execution (requirements, supplier qualification, validation, pricing, and launch)
Manage a robust NPI pipeline using a disciplined stage-gate process
Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and customer applications through market engagement and research


Pricing & Profitability

Develop and execute market-based pricing strategies across direct and channel sales
Build financial models to support pricing decisions, NPI business cases, and large RFPs
Partner cross-functionally to improve margins, cost competitiveness, and overall portfolio profitability


Market Intelligence & Customer Engagement

Serve as SME for fiber optic transceivers and connectivity solutions, tracking trends such as 400G/800G/1.6T, silicon photonics, and coherent pluggables
Engage directly with customers, partners, and industry stakeholders to understand use cases, buying behavior, and demand drivers
Represent the business in customer meetings, trade shows, and industry events


Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner with sales and business development to support strategic opportunities and define win strategies
Collaborate with marketing on product messaging, datasheets, and campaign content
Provide product training and technical guidance to internal teams, customers, and partners
Align with operations, procurement, and sales to ensure launch readiness, supply continuity, and fulfillment performance
Work with cross-product leaders to develop integrated, system-level solutions across the broader portfolio

Performance Goals

Launch 4 to 6 new products annually to generate more than $5 million in annual revenue through innovative, differentiated, value-driven solutions.

First 30 Days

Develop an understanding of the current product portfolio, customer base, and target markets within the business unit. Gain familiarity with the business unit’s capabilities, solutions, and cross-functional resources.

Develop an initial product roadmap aligned to growth markets, applications, and customer demand.

Identify the partners, suppliers, and engineering resources needed to support roadmap execution.

First 60 Days

Complete at least three voice-of-customer discussions to validate product priorities and roadmap direction.

Finalize a 6-month product roadmap with timelines and execution priorities for presentation to leadership.

First 90 Days

Engage key telecom and data center customers to gather voice-of-customer insights, understand current network architectures, and identify future solution opportunities.

Finalize a 12-month product roadmap with timelines and execution priorities for presentation to leadership.

This role pays a base salary between $135-175K and will be sitting remotely in Dallas, TX

Required Skills & Experience

Master’s degree in electrical engineering or a related technical discipline is preferred.

15+ years of experience in product management, with earlier responsibilities in business development, sales, or applications engineering for fiber optic products across multiple markets and applications.

Established relationships with key industry leaders, governing agencies, and industry organizations in the market.

Demonstrated success developing and executing product strategies, roadmaps, and new product launches.

Proven ability to develop and present complex business cases to internal and external stakeholders to gain alignment.

Track record of commercial success in both portfolio growth and new product introduction.

Ability to translate complex technical knowledge into digestible information to support sales and marketing.

Strong interpersonal skills, sound business judgment, a customer-focused mindset, and a proven track record of delivering revenue growth.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and professionally in English.

Strong proficiency and working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Ex, Excel, Word, & PowerPoint), CRM, and ERP.

Experience working successfully in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities.
