Job Description
An employer in the insurance industry is seeking an AI Product Owner to join the Underwriting Solutions team. This individual will be responsible for owning and managing a portfolio of AI-enabled products that support underwriting and operational workflows across multiple lines of business. This role sits at the intersection of business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring that product capabilities align with business needs and are effectively prioritized, communicated, and delivered. This role is highly collaborative and fast-paced. On a typical day, the Product Owner will spend a significant portion of their time engaging with business leaders and end users across underwriting, claims, and operations to understand needs, gather feedback, and communicate product capabilities. Another portion of their time will be spent managing and prioritizing the product backlog—ensuring that the most impactful features are clearly defined and sequenced appropriately. The remaining time will be dedicated to working with IT and engineering teams to translate business needs into actionable requirements and ensure successful delivery of product enhancements. The Product Owner will oversee a suite of products that support AI-enabled underwriting workflows, including tools such as an underwriting workbench, data ingestion capabilities that convert incoming business data into usable formats, and internal learning tools designed to expand AI adoption across the organization. They will also evaluate and support third-party product integrations where applicable. This individual will act as a champion for these products—maintaining their structure, enhancing existing features, and ensuring strong alignment between business value and technical delivery. Success in this role will be defined by the ability to effectively manage multiple products, prioritize features that drive meaningful impact, and clearly communicate across both business and technical audiences. This person must be comfortable operating across complex domains, asking thoughtful questions, and using the appropriate level of detail when engaging with different stakeholders.
