Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented, reliable Administrative/Academic Secretary to support a Professor Emeritus at a top Public University. This is a flexible, part-time role ideal for someone looking to supplement another job, freelance work, or graduate studies. The work is task-based rather than schedule-based, allowing for flexibility as long as deadlines are met.

Required Skills & Experience

Responsibilities:
Transcribe handwritten materials (letters, notes, book content, and lecture slides) into polished digital documents
Create and update PowerPoint presentations for course instruction
Upload course materials and readings to Canvas
Draft, format, and submit letters of recommendation and professional correspondence
Assist with academic writing projects, including typing, light editing, and citation formatting
Format references and conduct literature searches using tools such as PubMed
Support general administrative and academic tasks as needed

Qualifications:
Strong attention to detail, especially with transcription and formatting
Ability to accurately interpret handwritten notes
Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace
Familiarity with Canvas or similar learning management systems is a plus
Exposure to academic research, epidemiology, or scientific writing preferred
Experience using PubMed or formatting citations/reference lists is a plus
Strong written communication and organizational skills
