Job Description
The Materials Management Supervisor leads Purchasing and Production Planning to ensure material
availability, effective production schedules, inventory control, and supplier performance, while
supervising Buyers and a Planner. This role improves planning and purchasing processes to support
manufacturing operations, on-time delivery, inventory optimization, cost reduction, and business growth
Lead the Purchasing and Production Planning team and establish clear priorities and accountability
• Develop and execute standard purchasing and planning processes supported by KPIs and best
practices
• Manage production schedules and material planning to meet customer demand and inventory
goals
• Manage supplier performance across quality, delivery, responsiveness, and cost
• Drive inventory optimization and cost-reduction initiatives
• Collaborate cross-functionally and support ERP utilization, reporting, and continuous improvement
Success Metrics:
• Improved on-time delivery and production schedule adherence
• Reduced material shortages, production disruptions, and expedite costs
• Improved inventory accuracy, inventory turns, and excess inventory reduction
• Improved supplier delivery performance and responsiveness
• Strong ERP utilization and disciplined purchasing and planning processes

Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, Engineering, or related field
• 5+ years of experience in purchasing and production planning, or materials management
• Manufacturing experience required; Life Sciences, medical, or plastics preferred
• Prior leadership or supervisory experience
• Experience with ERP (MRP/MPS) and lean supply chain (Kanban) processes required
• APICS/CPIM certification a plus
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to build structure and operational discipline in a growing manufacturing environment
• Hands-on experience with ERP systems, inventory management, and production planning
