Job Description
One of the nation’s largest regional education agencies is looking for a BI Architect to support a large-scale ERP modernization effort and broader enterprise data transformation within a rapidly evolving Azure-based data environment. This role will be responsible for designing and implementing a modern data platform, including a master data warehouse, and enabling scalable reporting, analytics, and data integrations across business and student systems. The BI Architect will focus on defining data architecture, building and optimizing data pipelines, ensuring data integrity, and establishing data governance standards. This individual will work closely with application teams, BI developers, and business stakeholders to ensure the data platform is reliable, scalable, and aligned with long-term organizational goals.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement enterprise data architecture, including data warehouses, data lakes, and data integration frameworks
- Develop and maintain data models, including defining conformed and reusable data objects across systems
- Architect, lead, and oversee ETL processes, data ingestion pipelines, and transformation workflows
- Integrate and consolidate data from ERP systems, business applications, and third-party platforms into a centralized data platform
Identify, analyze, and resolve data integrity and data quality issues, including performing root cause analysis
- Establish and enforce data governance standards, including data access controls and security roles
- Optimize performance of data platforms, databases, and reporting layers, including system audits and tuning
- Support BI and reporting teams by designing scalable semantic and presentation layers
- Partner with functional and technical teams to ensure alignment between data architecture and business requirements
- Support release cycles, enhancements, and production support activities related to the data platform
- Recommend and implement process improvements, technical standards, and data platform enhancements
Core Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, and analytical tools
- Build and support ETL processes, transformation pipelines, and data ingestion workflows
- Analyze and troubleshoot data quality and integrity issues, implementing corrective solutions
- Support data warehouse development, including integrating data from enterprise systems
- Create and optimize the presentation layer and reporting performance
- Assist with data modeling, semantic layer development, and report optimization
- Support system audits, testing cycles, and release processes, including bug fixes and enhancements
- Partner with functional teams to define security roles and data access controls
- Provide ongoing production support and troubleshooting for BI tools and reporting systems
- Recommend process improvements, technical enhancements, and reporting optimizations

Required Skills & Experience
- 8–12+ years of experience in BI/Data Architecture in enterprise environments
- Strong expertise in relational (SQL) and exposure to non-relational databases
- Proven experience designing data lakes, data warehouses, and lakehouse architectures
- Hands-on experience building and managing ETL pipelines, data ingestion frameworks, and transformation processes
- Strong understanding of BI concepts, including semantic models and reporting layers
- Experience designing and integrating enterprise data models across ERP, applications, and third-party systems
- Ability to define and develop conformed, reusable data objects and enterprise data standards
- Strong experience identifying and resolving data integrity and data quality issues, including root cause analysis
- Experience working with cloud data platforms (Azure required; AWS/GCP exposure acceptable)
- Strong understanding of data governance, security roles, and access control frameworks
- Experience supporting data warehouse performance, audits, and overall platform optimization
- Familiarity with software engineering principles, version control, and Linux/Windows environments
- Experience supporting ERP modernization and downstream reporting/data ecosystems
- Experience with modern Azure data tools (ADF, Synapse, Fabric, or similar)
- Strong understanding of presentation layer design and BI/reporting performance optimization
- Ability to communicate data architecture strategy and technical solutions clearly to stakeholders
