Job Description
This role operates at the intersection of business and technology, owning the company’s data governance strategy and execution. On a daily basis, the Senior Data Governance Lead collaborates with data engineers, architects, analysts, and compliance teams to ensure that data across the organization is trustworthy, secure, and well-managed. They oversee data quality initiatives, resolve data-related issues, and ensure proper lineage and cataloging across modern data platforms like Azure, Snowflake, and Databricks. The role involves leading governance councils, defining policies, and working closely with stakeholders to embed governance into everyday workflows. Additionally, they evaluate and implement governance tools (e.g., Purview or Collibra), support audits, and continuously improve governance frameworks to align with business goals and regulatory requirements

Role & Responsibilities
• Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of enterprise-wide data governance frameworks, policies, and standards
• Establish and enforce data quality, data lineage, metadata management, and data stewardship practices across business and technical teams
• Partner with data engineering, analytics, and business stakeholders to ensure data integrity, compliance, and usability across platforms (Azure, Snowflake, Databricks)
• Define and drive data governance operating models, including roles (data owners, stewards) and governance councils
• Implement and manage data cataloging and governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Microsoft Purview, Informatica)
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (GDPR, CCPA, SOX, HIPAA as applicable) and support audit readiness initiatives
• Develop and maintain data policies, standards, and documentation for data classification, retention, privacy, and access controls
• Partner with security teams to define and enforce data access governance and role-based controls
• Drive adoption of governance practices through training, change management, and stakeholder engagement
Monitor and report on data governance KPIs, including data quality scores, issue resolution SLAs, and policy adherence
