Job Description
Insight Global’s Consulting Division is partnering with one of the largest utility companies to support the Electric Asset Strategy team through high‑impact analytics and data management. This role is focused on supporting substation and electric asset outage analysis, with an emphasis on data integrity, historical analysis, and process improvement.
The individual in this role will be responsible for gathering, analyzing, and maintaining the Electric Asset Outages database on a monthly basis. You will work closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in the field, Asset Strategy stakeholders, and IT partners to ensure accurate, timely data is uploaded to enterprise systems and used to inform asset strategy models and decision‑making.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain, analyze, and enhance the Electric Asset Outages dataset, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
Identify and source data from multiple systems related to substation and electric asset events.
Analyze historical outage and inspection data to provide deeper insight, context, and root‑cause indicators for past events.
Partner directly with field SMEs to gather supplemental event data and improve data completeness.
Collaborate with IT teams to ensure updated datasets are properly uploaded to servers and utilized in asset strategy models.
Support foundation data analysis, develop talking points based on inspection and outage data, and respond to ad hoc analytical requests from Asset Strategy.
Coordinate and fulfill data requests across multiple internal partners.
Help define and document structured, repeatable processes to ensure continuity and scalability for future team members.
Contribute to substation‑focused analytics, including identifying failure modes, asset issues, and data gaps.
Systems & Tools Exposure
Work with PG&E business systems, primarily SAP, including analysis of older event data where partial information may need to be reconstructed.
Utilize advanced Excel functionality to analyze large datasets and produce insights.
(Nice to have) Experience with Foundry, including:
Identifying relevant attributes and data elements
Building or supporting dashboards
Helping visualize failure modes, asset issues, and data quality trends

Required Skills & Experience
Advanced Excel skills with experience working with large and complex data sets
Strong ability to generate pivot tables, pivot charts, and analytical reports
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex data to internal stakeholders
Ability to perform under time‑sensitive, ambiguous conditions
Proven ability to work independently while managing multiple engagements with minimal supervision
Strong problem‑solving and analytical mindset
Bachelor’s degree required
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Background in research or analytical investigation
Experience or familiarity with PG&E, utilities, or similar infrastructure‑based environments
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (electrical, civil, or mechanical preferred)
Experience with root cause analysis
Substation knowledge or exposure to electric asset data
Mapping or geospatial data experience
Experience with Foundry or similar data platforms
