Job Description

Responsible for overseeing import and export compliance activities to ensure alignment with applicable U.S. and international trade regulations. Partners cross-functionally to implement and maintain effective compliance processes, provide guidance and training, and evaluate risk across transactions and business operations.

Key Responsibilities
-Ensure compliance with applicable import/export laws, including customs regulations, export controls, and sanctions programs
Interpret and apply current trade regulations and integrate requirements into internal processes and controls
-Maintain and periodically review compliance procedures, work instructions, and audit mechanisms
-Support product classification efforts and validate classification data (e.g., HTS, Schedule B) within internal systems
-Collaborate with engineering and operations teams on classification and regulatory considerations
-Deliver trade compliance training to new hires and existing employees
-Review and approve license or permit applications, as required
-Develop and maintain technology control plans and oversee controlled technology transfers
-Manage and audit third-party screening processes and ensure appropriate follow-up on flagged entities
-Conduct risk assessments on transactions and confirm due diligence requirements are met
-Review contract requirements related to trade compliance and ensure proper flow-down into operations
-Support preparation and validation of export/import documentation for non-standard shipments
-Advise leadership on compliance risks associated with business activities and decisions

Required Skills & Experience

-Roughly 5 years of experience in import/export compliance or related regulatory functions
-Working knowledge of U.S. trade regulations (e.g., ITAR, EAR), sanctions programs (OFAC), customs requirements, and related controls
-Ability to interpret regulatory requirements and contractual clauses
-Strong written and verbal communication skills
-Proficiency with standard business software (e.g., Microsoft Office)
-Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

-Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience
-Prior experience in a regulated manufacturing or technical environment preferred
-Familiarity with trade compliance systems or tools is a plus
