Job Description

Insight Global is partnering with a large local utility as they grow their Electric Engineering organization to support the surge in electricity demand, driven by AI-focused data centers, rapid electric vehicle (EV) adoption, and massive grid modernization efforts.

We are seeking a Sr. Manager of Civil & Corrosion Engineering where this leader will oversee a large, technically complex civil engineering organization responsible for structural integrity and corrosion mitigation programs across a broad service territory. The ideal candidate comes from a hands on civil engineering background with strong utility experience who thrives in challenging the status quo, driving efficiency, and introducing innovative solutions. This role requires a confident communicator and people leader who can influence across teams, develop engineering talent, and ensure technical excellence while aligning with a collaborative, safety focused culture.
Day to Day:
• Lead and develop a team of 4–5 direct reports, overseeing ~60 total engineers
• Provide technical oversight for civil, structural, and corrosion engineering programs
• Challenge the status quo by introducing new ideas, methods, and efficiencies
• Partner cross functionally to ensure engineering solutions align with safety, reliability, and regulatory standards
• Influence stakeholders and ensure alignment with PG&E culture and values
• Balance hands on technical problem solving with strategic people leadership
• Support projects across PG&E’s territory, including onsite engagement as needed

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or related engineering discipline)
• Strong technical civil engineering background (hands on engineer, not just people manager)
• Background working in the utility, energy, or infrastructure space
• Proven people leadership experience (managing multiple direct reports and large teams)
• Ability to challenge existing processes and drive technical improvements
• Strong communication skills; able to listen, influence, and collaborate
• Willingness to travel across service territory as needed

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Advanced degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Professional Engineer (PE) license
• Experience with structural and/or corrosion engineering
o Deep experience in corrosion mitigation programs
• Experience working in regulated utility environments
• Demonstrated success driving efficiency, modernization, or innovation initiatives
• Prior experience managing engineers and managers
