Job Description

A healthcare organization in the Los Angeles area is seeking Financial Clearance Representatives to support their growing team. This position will be a part of the Authorizations Team, responsible for obtaining service authorizations for patients seen at clinics across multiple states and cities (4 clinics in Arizona, 2 Clinics in Chicago, and 1 clinic in Atlanta). The current team size is 9 members. They will be submitting authorizations and verifying insurance for Episode‑Based Chemotherapy (infusion/injectable) treatments. If lacking experience with verifying insurance for chemotherapy treatments, the organization is comfortable with 2 representatives having a strong background specific to radiation/imaging verifications. They will be working with all types of insurance plans: HMOs, PPOs, Medi-Cal, Medicare, etc. across the given states. This person will need to quickly become familiar with the different plan types for the different locations. Experience with Epic EHR system is a huge plus. There will be City of Hope Training modules, once completed will participate in 1 on 1 training with the team lead, then transition to independent work once the team member feels comfortable. High volume of radiology and chemotherapy authorizations, as City of Hope specializes in oncology treatment and research. Daily responsibilities include:
-Manage work queues related to Episode-Based Chemotherapy (infusion/injectable) treatments (Patient Queue – Insurance verification and registration updates &
Referral Queue– Authorization and order submissions)
-Verify insurance eligibility for all scheduled patients on a monthly basis.
- Look up registration errors, update insurance/registration errors and details, and complete data entry tasks.
- Work through queues by appointment date or expected future date, ensuring all tasks are completed thoroughly before moving to the next patient.

Experience with submitting authorizations and verifying insurance for Episode‑Based Chemotherapy (infusion/injectable) treatments

3+ years of recent experience working with authorizations and insurance verifications in a healthcare environment

Strong soft skills & great communication
