Job Description

A mortgage company is looking for a Post-Close Underwriter in a mortgage company plays a critical role in ensuring that loans remain compliant and accurate after they have funded. This position is part of the quality control and risk management process that occurs after closing but before the loan is sold to investors or placed into servicing.

Here’s what the role typically involves:

Asses all key data points within the Audit Deficiency report provided by the Investor.

Communicate effectively with internal teams (underwriting, processing, compliance, etc) and eternal clients or investors to resolve issues.

Propose Alternative Solutions: Negotiate alternative resolutions with investors, such as indemnification agreements.

Corrective Measures: Prescribe and implement corrective actions for identified defects. This might involve obtaining missing documentation, corrected forms, or additional third-party verifications (e.g., updated verbal verification of employment).

Appeal and Rebuttal: Submit formal appeals or rebuttals to repurchase demands, providing supporting documentation and explanations for why the investor's decision should be reversed.

Required Skills & Experience

5-10 years of mortgage underwriting experience
Experience working as a QC/Loss Mitigation/Post Close Underwriter
Strong experience working with nonQM files
Knowledge of how to utilize Investor guidelines (Fannie, Freddie, etc).

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Experience with re-purchasing
Strong Encompass experience
