Job Description

We are looking for a Design Drafter to work for a leader in the utility industry. In this role you will be responsible for the following:
Execute approved redline updates within MicroStation, transforming validated engineering markups into finalized powerhouse schematics.

Coordinate with design engineer validation redlines and PG&Eprovided field imagery to update drawings in accordance with PG&E drafting standards, symbology, layering, naming conventions, and document control requirements.

Produce accurate drawing updates, performing selfchecks for completeness and consistency, and preparing deliverables for internal quality review and PG&E submission.

Coordinate closely with the design validation engineer and Project Manager to resolve questions and incorporate clarifications efficiently.

Develop and revise 2D and 3D drawings for mechanical, electrical, civil, and structural systems associated with clients facilities.

Prepare plan views, sections, details, schematics, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and equipment layouts.

Collaborate with engineers, project managers, plant operators, and field technicians to gather design inputs and resolve discrepancies.

Conduct quality checks on drawings for accuracy, completeness, and constructability.

Support design reviews and incorporate feedback from engineering leads and stakeholders.

Convert engineering concepts, field notes, and sketches into accurate, construction‑ready drawings.

Maintain drawing consistency with clients standards, templates, and symbology requirements.

Required Skills & Experience

Extensive experience in design drafting
Background within electrical, gas, power utilities
Proficiency in AutoCAD
Experience drafting for industrial, utility, or power generation environments.
Strong understanding of engineering drawings, symbols, and drafting conventions.
Ability to interpret engineering specifications, field notes, and redlines.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing error‑free work.
