Job Description
We are looking for a Design Engineering Validation Lead to work for a leader in the utility industry.
In this role you will be responsible for the following:
Serves as the technical authority for engineering validation of powerhouse drawings prior to drafting updates.
Substation and generation engineering experience and is responsible for ensuring that all redline updates are technically accurate, defensible, and aligned with PG&E engineering standards.
Review existing powerhouse drawings in conjunction with PG&Eprovided field photographs and supporting documentation to validate equipment configurations, layouts, and connections.
Identify discrepancies between drawings and field conditions and translated into clear, annotated redlines suitable for drafting execution.
Flag technical ambiguities, assumptions, or potential risks requiring clarification and will coordinate with the Project Manager and PG&E technical stakeholders as needed.
Ensure engineering integrity is established upfront, reducing downstream rework and review cycles.

Required Skills & Experience
- Extensive experience as a Design Engineer
- Experience working in electric, gas, or power utilities
- Understanding engineering standards and drawings
- Knowledge of engineering fundamentals:
1. Load calculations
2. Conductor sizing
3. Transformer selection
4. Protection coordination basics
5. Voltage drop and system reliability considerations
- Strong understanding of work packages, including BOMs, cost estimates, job packages, and construction notes.
- Skilled at identifying design errors, inconsistencies, and risk factors before they reach construction.
- Experience implementing quality control processes and maintaining documentation for audits.
