Job Description

The Field Engineer plays a hands-on role in supporting the day-to-day execution of utility-scale solar construction projects. This position works closely with on-site leadership to ensure field operations, inspections, documentation, and coordination activities are performed efficiently, safely, and in alignment with overall project objectives.
This role supports electricians, superintendents, and project management teams by assisting with inspections, reviewing drawings, coordinating materials, tracking progress, and maintaining field documentation. The Field Engineer is expected to balance time between the field and administrative responsibilities while serving as a communication link between crews, site management, and project leadership.

Required Skills & Experience

• High school diploma or GED required
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in construction, field engineering, or project support roles
• Physical ability to work on active construction sites and perform hands-on field support
• Familiarity with construction inspections, documentation, and reporting
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and Procore
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
• Ability to follow established procedures while also taking initiative when needed
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for reporting, briefings, and coordination
• Comfortable working collaboratively with field crews, supervisors, and project managers
• Willingness to travel and adapt to changing project needs and schedules
Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends as required

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
• Experience supporting utility-scale solar or renewable energy projects
• Familiarity with quality control, safety programs, and construction compliance standards
• Prior experience with hybrid field/office roles
Demonstrated interest in career progression from Field Engineer to Project Engineer or APM
