Job Description
The GIS Developer plays a pivotal role in the design, automation, and optimization of data pipelines and applications, with a particular focus on developing custom scripts and code to facilitate seamless integration between Azure Foundry and Esri systems. Leveraging Python and the ArcGIS REST API, they connect ArcGIS services to other enterprise platforms and cloud solutions, ensuring robust interoperability.
A central aspect of this role involves data modeling and governance, where the GIS Developer upholds high standards of data quality throughout the Foundry environment. By analyzing spatial data, they uncover trends, relationships, and potential operational bottlenecks, providing essential insights that drive informed, data-backed decision-making—such as streamlining and optimizing production processes.
Furthermore, by displaying process data, the GIS Developer gains valuable visibility into how various process variables impact overall data quality. They are also tasked with automating routine geoprocessing tasks and managing workflows for data loading and conversion, thereby increasing efficiency and reliability across the organization’s geospatial data operations.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud GIS Automation: Develop scripts (Python/ArcPy/GeoPandas) to automate spatial data processing, analysis, and ETL tasks within Azure.
Application Development: Design and maintain backend GIS applications and custom tools (e.g., ArcGIS Pro Add-ins).
API & Service Development: Build and consume REST APIs and GeoServices within web applications.
Database Management: Create and manage SQL scripts, spatial indexes, and databases within Azure environments.
Data Integration: Process and migrate geographical data between local systems and cloud storage (e.g., Azure Blob Storage)
