Job Description
The Finance Manager will report to the Controller or Executive Director of Finance and is responsible for overseeing core operational finance functions while supervising assigned finance staff. This role supports day-to-day financial operations by ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial processing across key areas such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, General Ledger, and Financial Data & Reporting.
The Finance Manager partners closely with program and departmental leaders to strengthen financial processes, ensure strong internal controls, support audits and close activities, and provide financial insights that inform organizational decision-making. This role plays a critical leadership function within the Finance team and supports adherence to GAAP, organizational policies, and regulatory requirements, with a strong emphasis on nonprofit financial management best practices.

Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
- 5+ years of progressively responsible accounting or finance experience
- 3+ years of supervisory or people management experience
- Hands-on experience supporting core finance functions, including:
• Accounts Payable
• Payroll
• Accounts Receivable
• General Ledger
• Financial Reporting
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, internal controls, and compliance standards
- Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Experience working with accounting or ERP systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Experience in nonprofit, community-based, or healthcare organizations
• Experience with Sage Intacct or similar ERP systems
• Experience supporting audits, grant compliance, and funder reporting
• Experience improving or automating finance processes and systems
• Prior experience partnering cross-functionally with HR, program teams, and leadership
• Eligibility for or prior progression into a senior Finance Manager–level role
