Job Description
A media company is seeking a Platform Engineer (Union) to join their team! The platform engineering team operates in a highly collaborative, production-focused environment, supporting core infrastructure and DevOps needs across the organization. Day to day, the engineer partners closely with managers, application teams, and security stakeholders to ensure systems are stable, observable, and ready for both current operations and future deployments. Work includes maintaining and troubleshooting Kubernetes clusters in GCP, improving CI/CD pipelines and automation, implementing and refining observability metrics and dashboards, and responding to incidents to keep systems up and running. The role balances planned platform improvements with unplanned operational work and places a strong emphasis on clear communication, cross-team collaboration, and continuously improving onboarding and internal processes.

Required Skills & Experience
• Strong experience operating in Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
○ ~5+ years of hands-on GCP experience
• Solid experience with Kubernetes (operating, maintaining, troubleshooting clusters)
• Working knowledge of Golang
○ Ability to read, understand, modify, and improve existing scripts and services (basic–intermediate level)
• Experience with Terraform for infrastructure as code
• Hands-on experience with:
○ Observability tooling (monitoring, dashboards, alerts)
○ Incident response and root cause analysis
○ Managing SLAs / SLIs
• Ability to balance planned platform work with unplanned operational issues
• Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
• Proven ability to explain technical decisions, accomplishments, and impact
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Networking fundamentals (firewalls, policies, traffic routing)
• Experience supporting live or high-availability systems
• Prior work on internal developer platforms or shared infrastructure
• Exposure to security or compliance-related initiatives
