Job Description

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm
Job Type: Full-Time | Onsite
Department: Design Engineering

We are seeking a Design Engineer 3 to serve as a subject matter expert in mechanical design and stress analysis (FEA). In this role, you will support projects across the full product lifecycle - including new development, legacy support, R&D, and failure analysis; primarily for high‑pressure, high‑temperature pneumatic and fluid line systems used in commercial, military, and space aerospace applications.
This position operates independently 75%+ of the time and collaborates with cross‑functional teams across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and sales.

Responsibilities:
There are two primary job functions: Detailed component design and FEA based stress analysis.
Component Design
• Create conceptual designs (sketches or CAD) for drafting.
• Apply principles such as design to specification, DFM, DFI, and cost‑optimized design.
• Design metallic components fabricated through sheet metal forming/welding, machining, additive manufacturing, and casting.
Stress Analysis (FEA)
• Perform linear & nonlinear static analysis; modal, harmonic, and random response analysis.
• Conduct geometry creation, meshing, solving, and technical report writing.
• Use tools such as HyperWorks, Femap/NASTRAN, and ANSYS Mechanical.
Cross‑Functional Engineering
• Work closely with Project Engineers, Drafters, Manufacturing Engineers, Quality Engineers, Test Lab, Contracts, and Sales.
• Conduct internal flow and external insulation calculations with in‑house tools.
Automation & Tool Development
• Build custom analysis and automation tools using Excel/VBA, MATLAB, Python, and software APIs.
Other Responsibilities
• Provide mentorship to junior engineers (no direct supervisory duties).
• Travel up to 15% for software training, customer design reviews, and onsite project support.
