Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Principal Data Consultant to act as the spearhead of the company’s data strategy,
owning the client-facing advisory, solution definition, and commercial positioning of data engineering and
analytics engagements, and then guiding those initiatives into successful delivery.

Key Responsibilities
Data Strategy & Client Advisory (Front of the Spear)
● Lead executive-level conversations with clients around data strategy, analytics maturity, and
data-driven transformation.
● Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders (CTO, Head of Data, Analytics, Product, Business
Leaders).
● Diagnose client data challenges, operating models, and organizational readiness.
● Define clear data roadmaps aligned to business outcomes.
Commercial Ownership & Opportunity Shaping
● Shape scope, approach, and solution positioning to support revenue growth and delivery
success.
● Actively drive data-related opportunities from early discovery through deal closure.
● Partner with Sales to close complex data engagements.
● Influence pricing, team composition, and delivery approach.
Solution Definition & Technical Leadership
● Define high-level data architectures and solution approaches covering ingestion, transformation,
analytics, and BI layers.
Provide technical direction during early delivery phases to ensure architectural integrity and
execution alignment.
● Step in hands-on when required for critical design decisions or complex technical challenges.
Transition to Delivery & Execution Support
● Provide technical oversight during kickoff and early delivery phases to ensure continuity from
what was sold to what is delivered.
● Partner with delivery leadership and engineering teams to validate assumptions and mitigate
early risks.
● Gradually transition ownership to delivery teams once the engagement is stable and aligned.
Data Practice & Capability Building
● Play a leading role in defining Distillery’s data consulting offerings, methodologies, and
go-to-market narrative.
● Contribute to internal reference architectures, frameworks, and accelerators.
● Support development of thought leadership and client-facing data narratives.
● Help elevate overall data consulting maturity across the organization.
Partnerships & Ecosystem
● Leverage relationships with cloud, data platform, and analytics partners to strengthen solution
credibility and accelerate deal cycles.
Support co-selling, joint solution design, and partner-led initiatives.
This role is responsible for how Distillery defines, sells, and executes data work. The Principal Data
Consultant will operate at the intersection of data architecture, business strategy, and revenue, leading
early client conversations, shaping opportunities, influencing deal outcomes, and ensuring that data
engagements transition cleanly into delivery.
This is not a pure delivery role and not a pure pre-sales role. It is a consulting leadership role requiring
deep technical credibility, strong commercial instincts, and the ability to move seamlessly from executive
advisory to hands-on technical direction when needed.
Success in this role means establishing Distillery as a credible data engineering and analytics partner,
generating meaningful data-related revenue, and ensuring those engagements deliver real business
impact.

● Experience shaping and closing complex data consulting engagements.
● Comfortable operating across strategy, sales, and delivery contexts.
● Experience in Professional Services or Consulting environments is mandatory.
● Exceptional communication and executive presence
