Job Description
Under general supervision, the Medical Coding Specialist will independently code patient records to provide accurate physician, technical, supply, surgical, and resident billing. The position involves working in a centralized coding unit that may include two or more of the following areas: professional fees, technical fees, multi-specialties, surgical, and/or resident staff coding and billing.
Prior to submitting charges, the specialist will review documentation for all patient visits and procedures, identify billable services, and communicate with providers when discrepancies occur. The role also includes coding and entering charges in the online charge entry system, managing work queues, and performing charge reconciliation.

Required Skills & Experience
-CCS-P or CSS or CPC certification
-3-5 years of medical coding experience in ancillary disciplines such as radiology, internal medicine, pediatrics, and or strong multispecialty outpatient clinic E/M & profee coding experience in hospital based clinical and free standing clinic settings
-Experience in a large health system
