Job Description
Insight Global is looking for a Sr. VMware Engineer. The individual will be responsible for the deployment and configuration of core branch office network equipment such as WiFi Access Points, Switches, Servers (Physical/Virtual), storage arrays, etc. Setting up devices for proactive monitoring, central management, and a smooth transition over to the IT Operations team. Support the daily infrastructure of the business, functioning primarily as mid to upper tier support of high complex issues. Sr Engineer is also responsible for all aspects of the enterprise end-to-end network performance, with specific emphasis on ensuring efficient, reliable application and system services delivery to all constituents in the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in the planning, design, and implementation of infrastructure projects to ensure their successful deployment.
-Participate in architecture discussions and review with various IT and business groups. Ensure supportability requirements and standards are followed to support the environment.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and provide technical direction to team members.
- Author documents that improve governance and librarianship with network-related architectures.
- Develop and implement new standards, processes and procedures for network and system deployment, maintenance, and support, that improve governance and and system-related documentation.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and security best practices.
- Collaborate with technical teams, such as security, development, and IT operations, to ensure seamless integration of infrastructure into the organization's overall technology ecosystem.
- Perform network-related data backups and disaster recovery operations.
- Working with field techs and venders to support our infrastructure in 1000 remotes offices across the United States.
- Monitor and improve performance of the infrastructure by researching, evaluating, and recommending new technology products and services.
- Research and recommend innovative and where possible automated approaches to configuration and applications that enable the architecture. Identify approaches that leverage existing resources and provide economies of scale.
- Participate in all phases of development life-cycle environments including development, test, staging and production infrastructure systems, applications, servers, and cloud services.
- Skilled in determining how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.
- Manage relationships with vendor support of multiple systems to troubleshoot and investigate the root causes of performance and failure issues.
- Continuously update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications and white papers.

Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum of 8+ years of experience in network/system engineering and deployment, with at least 3 years of experience leading a team of network and system engineers.
- Experience and support of virtualized Windows servers.
- Experience with routing, SDWAN, switching, enterprise-wide wireless network support and internet circuits.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex network issues.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Advanced experience with packet capture and analysis, span/mirror port strategy and related network monitoring tools.
- Knowledge of enterprise wireless technologies and security.
