Job Description

A client in Santa Clara, CA is looking to bring on a Staff Power Supply Design Engineer to join their team. This individual will be responsible for working with a group of engineers, technicians and assemblers in designing, developing, modifying and evaluating electronic parts, components or integrated circuitry for power supply systems. Throughout their day-to-day, this individual will determine design approaches and parameters, analyze equipment to establish operating data, conduct experimental tests and evaluates results, and select components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability. 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 
- Design of DC/DC, AC/DC switch mode power supplies utilizing various electrical topologies.
- Interpret customer and marketing requirements for new or modified products.
- Performs electrical design and coordinate the activities for PCB, mechanical design, documentation, safe agency approvals and release of designs to manufacture.
- Electrical design of new and modified products.
- Ensure products designs are cost effective and designed for manufacturing.
- Supervise engineers, engineering technicians, and engineering assemblers.
- Coordinate PCB and mechanical design.
- Performs cost analysis and produces cost estimates & complex ESS/ FAT test for the qualification of products 
- Directs customer support.
- Troubleshoots circuits as required.
- Makes presentations to management and customers.
- Performs reliability prediction calculations and reports.
- Responsible for root causes analysis on products, technical problems and documentation.
- Responsible for implementing preventive and corrective action.
- Prepares user related documentation relative to products and components

Required Skills & Experience

- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or related field 
- 5+ years of job-related experience working in a high voltage environment 
- Working knowledge of circuit design and simulation & Magnetic Design 
- Experience with electronic packaging, electronic power supplies and power conversion products
- Knowledge of current manufacturing techniques for power products.
- Knowledge of CE certification standards, ISO and GMP standards and Mil standard EMI/EMC compliance.
- Thorough understanding of Control Theory

SKILLS:
- LT Spice, Schematic Capture Tools, Board Layout Tool Familiarity

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Knowledge of Potting and encapsulation 
- Automatic assembly equipment
- Familiarity of process design
- Excellent math aptitude
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and complete tasks with minimum supervision
