Job Description

In this highly visible customer facing role as Solution Validation Services Consulting Engineer, you will:
• Engage with customers and other Cisco stakeholders on successful planning and execution of validation engagements.
• Support next generation R&S, Enterprise and Service Provider customers to accelerate implementation of new platforms/solutions.
• Validate new design solutions to meet customer requirements.
• Drive requirements discussions, analyze test requirements, build test lab configurations, author and execute test plans, and document results.
• Identify key issues and gaps and work with engineering and delivery teams to resolve them.
• Develop/integrate new technologies into lab environments.
• Collaborate with Solution Architects from Delivery and Sales teams regarding future initiatives and securing customer business.
• Innovate to gain efficiency and accelerate validation efforts.
• Collaborate with other engineers to ensure successful project delivery.
• Identify and facilitate new business growth opportunities.

Required Skills & Experience

Candidates must have deep technical expertise with Core routing and switching, Enterprise and Service Provider, and preferably automation technologies. Candidates must also have strong customer interaction, troubleshooting, and consulting skills. They must be able to articulate complex concepts in easy-to-understand language. Candidates must be proficient in customer facing discussions as well as the technologies listed above. Typically requires bachelors or masters along with 3-5 yrs of related experience for Grade 8 and 8-10 yrs of related experience for Grade 10.
Minimum Qualifications
• Customer Facing experience (ability to interface and interact with customers successfully).
• Previous experience in complex network troubleshooting or TAC-style experience.
• 3 - 8 years of experience with Catalyst 8ks, ASRs and ISR. Good understanding and experience with Cisco IOS-XE and IOS-XR
• Very good understanding and experience on L2 switching, L3 routing and routing protocols (specifically OSPF and BGP).
• Understanding and experience with VPNs (IPsec, DMVPN, ISAKMP, IKE, etc) and MPLS.
• Understanding of other protocols and features such as NAT, QoS, SNMP, TACACs, etc.
• Basic Programming/Scripting Skill (preferably Python)
• Basic working knowledge in yang models, configuration management, APIs and operational models.
• Strong Written and Verbal skills.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Preferred skills:
• Some degree of programming/Scripting, orchestration and automation skills (preferably Python, Ansible, Terraform).
• Good understanding of data models, various data formats such as YAML, JSON and XML and of APIs.
• Experience in large-scale enterprise network deployments.
• Experience with Cisco network management and monitoring tools.
• Strong knowledge of network protocols such as BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, and VPN technologies.
• Knowledge of designing Enterprise solutions, DMVPNs, and hub-spoke topologies.
• Preferred exposure to Cisco ISRs, ASRs and Catalyst product lines and IOS-XE and IOS-XR.
• Preferably a CCNA or CCNP level certification.
• Proficient with Industry Test Tools; Spirent or Ixia preferred
• Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and formal presentation)
• Ability and experience debugging and troubleshooting complex network problems
