Job Description

The Senior Electrical Engineer will design and upgrade electrical systems to improve energy efficiency, with a deep understanding of power distribution from the utility grid to end-use receptacles. They will perform complex engineering calculations, integrate DER components like PV and BESS, and ensure compliance with utility interconnection requirements. The role involves leading small teams, managing multiple projects, and collaborating with various disciplines. The engineer will develop concepts, produce construction drawings, and oversee installations. Strong communication skills and occasional travel for site visits are required.

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or Building Science
PE License required.
8+ years of electrical design-build experience in commercial, education, government, or light industrial projects, typically at an MEP consulting firm.
Proficient in performing engineering calculations such as fault current studies, arc flash analysis, selective coordination studies, service entrance calculations, transformer sizing, and overcurrent protection.
Knowledge of building codes and regulations (IEEE, NFPA, NEC (NFPA70), California Electric Code (CEC), Title 24, UL Listings, Life Safety, IBC, and OSHA)
Technical understanding of grounding and bonding.
Extensive product knowledge of manufacturers like Eaton, Schneider, ABB, and Siemens.
Ability to size and specify distribution equipment such as diesel generators, electrical switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, and disconnect switches.
Experience in assembling and compiling Division 26 specifications.
Ability to take ownership of projects from initial site visit through design, construction drawing completion, and into the construction phase.
Proficient in AutoCAD; Revit experience is a plus.
Skilled in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Teams; working knowledge of Bluebeam Revu.
Must be located in CA, NV, TX, KS, OR, CO, WA or adjacent states throughout the Western United States

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Advanced understanding of low voltage systems (600V and lower), both AC and DC distributions, including 480/277V, 208/120V, and 240/120V systems. Medium voltage experience is a plus.
Experience with PV, EV, BESS or Renewable Energy systems.
