A distinguished University in Los Angeles is looking for a Sr. Business Analyst (Grant Management Systems) to join the IT team as both a technical and functional liaison between IT and the Office for Research and Sponsored Projects (ORSP). They will play a pivotal role in enhancing the University's Workday enterprise system to support post-award grants management, compliance, financial analysis, and data reporting. This role will bridge technology and business needs by focusing on streamlining data collection, enhancing reporting efficiencies, and supporting the development of a Workday Grants Toolkit. The Sr. BA will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including ITS analysts, financial analysts, and the WD/ITS Advisory Committee, ensuring accurate, efficient, and integrated processes for sponsored research activities.
Their day to day will consist of collaborating with stakeholders across IT, Finance, and Sponsored Research to gather and analyze business requirements for integrating the pre-award (Cayuse) and post-award (Workday) systems, define requirements for developing a data warehousing solution to enhance grants management, compliance reporting, and financial analysis. They will also develop and document current and future-state process workflows for data collection, reporting, and grants management within Cayuse and Workday. This person will support the creation of automated reports and dashboards in Workday for HERD reporting, IDC recovery analysis, and internal/external reporting needs and act as a liaison between IT, Finance, and Research departments to foster alignment. Lastly, they will assist in developing the Workday Grants Toolkit, documenting workflows, integration mappings, and system enhancements for broader dissemination to other research forward institutions they are in partnership with.

-5+ years of experience as a business analyst working within technical systems related to Grants Management (on a technical financial standpoint)
-Higher education work experience or hospital/medical research industry - ideally in grants management
-Grants management system (GMS) experience (such as Cayuse, Submittable, Instrumentl, Blackbaud, Good Grants, ApliFund, and more)
-Experience using Workday finance modules
-Strong documentation processes especially in the context of creating a process/documentation toolkit for business analysis and intelligence
-Project management tool proficiency such as Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet's etcs
