Insight Global is seeking a Senior Accountant for one of our not-for-profit insurance clients based in Sacramento, CA. They are Californias largest provider of residential earthquake insurance. This role has the ability to sit remotely but does require a few days in the office per month, so we are looking for someone who is local to the Sacramento area.
As the Senior Accountant you will be joining a team of four and be responsible for providing full accounting and financial service responsibilities, planning and advisory duties in insurance, reinsurance, investment and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP). You will perform accounting tasks for the monthly accounting closing process; compile statutory financial statements; and contribute to the GAAP financial statements preparation on an annual basis. This position will assist finance management with special projects, accounts payable, and ad hoc requests from the Controller.
Responsibilities include:
- Month End Close: Preparing/posting journal entries to record transactions and adjusting general ledger accounts in accordance with GAAP and SAP. Auditing and processing vendor invoices to ensure payments are made accurately and timely.
- Wire Transfer & Investments and Debt Instruments: Reviewing and analyzing the payment requests, invoices or related accounting documents accuracy and compliance. Preparing wire transfers from multiple vendors, asset managers, and reinsurers. Performing analytical work related to investments and debt accounting in order for accuracy and compliance to internal policies.
- Financial Reporting: Reviewing financial records, reconciling general ledger accounts and preparing monthly financial statements including balance sheets, income statements and cash flow in accordance with GAAP.
- Statutory Reporting: Preparing quarterly and annual statutory financial statements, required by the Department of Insurance, including investment accounting schedules, reinsurance accounting schedules and claims accounting schedules according to SAP
- Accounts Payable: Analyzing invoices, approvals, contracts and obligations to ensure procurement operates in accordance with our clients policies.
- Special Projects: Providing input and recommendations regarding financial accounting procedures and process maps to management and/or internal risk control to assist in improvement and efficiency.
