Job Description

An environmental engineering company is looking for an Environmental Planner with a Solid Waste or Recycling Specialty in the Diamond Bar, CA area. The planner will be involved in planning, design, construction, permitting, regulatory compliance, and program implementation for solid waste management programs and projects. They will get to work on projects that focus on waste reuse and reduction planning, circularity and sustainability in waste management, alternative technologies to landfilling, green renewable energy projects, food waste prevention and reduction, waste characterization, solid/organic waste facility, and collection program development. The planner will conduct research (focused on environmental documents like Environmental Impact Reports, Negative Declarations, General Plans, Zoning Codes) and document waste management practices locally and internationally to assess and develop recommended improvements as well as conducting surveys and supporting public education and outreach efforts.
Salary $85-105k

Required Skills & Experience

- Bachelors Degree in Urban and Regional Planning, Environmental/Sustainability Studies, or other science degree
- 3+ years of experience with environmental planning and permitting/compliance
- Experience with Solid Waste or Recycling Planning
- Willingness to work with trash and also write up reports

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Bilingual in Spanish or any South Pacific languages
- GIS Certification
- Experience with AutoCAD
- Understanding of California regulations/ CEQA
- Experience in waste characterization, landfill diversion planning, and food waste prevention programs
