Job Description

The SSHO is responsible for promoting and ensuring the overall safety culture on the project site. This role is crucial for establishing and implementing a safe work environment, ensuring that all personnel adhere to safety protocols, and that all operations are conducted in a manner that prioritizes safety.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct daily personnel and equipment inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards.

Lead safety orientations and meetings to educate and remind personnel of safety practices.

Investigate mishaps and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Maintain and enforce the Accident Prevention Plan (APP) and Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs) in accordance with EM 385-1-1.

Ensure subcontractor compliance with safety requirements and remove personnel who do not adhere to safety protocols or are a safety risk.

Attend pre-construction conferences, pre-work meetings, and three-phase inspection meetings to advocate for safety measures.

Required Skills & Experience

At least 5 years of experience as a Safety Supervisor on USACE or NAVFAC construction projects.
Completion of the 30-hour OSHA course.
Current knowledge of EM385-1-1.
