Job Description

The Sr. Dynamic Systems Analysis Engineer is responsible for structural analysis of rotor hubs, rotating controls, bearings, and composite rotor blades, and will interact extensively with Dynamicists, Test & Evaluation, Materials and Process engineers, the Drive Systems team, and the Airframe team. This role will report to the Dynamic System Analysis Manager. Short term contract with potential opportunity for extension and/or full time employment to be evaluated at end of contract.

PR: $75 - 85

Required Skills & Experience

Responsibilities and Duties
Perform hand calculations and finite element analysis of conceptual and preliminary designs at the detail and assembly levels, and iterate with Design Engineers to size components appropriately for static and fatigue loads
Investigate and compare design factors such as materials, performance, weight, and stiffness & strength requirements
Perform diverse and sophisticated product development by applying engineering principles and developing new or unique stress analysis tools/methods as required
Document stress analysis for safety of test and safety of flight reviews
Write test plans for coupon and sub-component testing
Support execution of flight and ground test operations
Evaluate full-scale system testing data during ground testing, flight test, and civil certification to validate designs and analysis
Analyze damage limits and tolerances for various structural components
May require up to 25% of domestic and international travel
Other duties as assigned


Education/Experience:
Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (Masters degree preferred).
5 years experience in stress analysis of helicopter and/or tiltrotor rotor systems (10 years preferred).
Experience with finite element analysis software - ANSYS preferred
Experience with developing rotor and/or drive system test plans
Experience with data collection and analysis
Prior background with rotor and/or drive system tests

Required Skills:
Knowledge of a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software such as 3D Experience
Must display ability to identify problems, recommend solutions, and negotiate and execute contingency plans.
Must be able to accept personal responsibility and accountability for major analytical and planning assignments.
Communicates directly with management and cross-functional leaders as required.
Strong teamwork skills. Able to develop consensus and move the program forward. Develop win-win situations.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
