- Record Keeping: Maintain confidential records related to donor medical history cards and unit numbering.
- Blood Bag Labeling: Properly label blood bags.
- Donor Unit Tubing: Heat-seal donor unit tubing into segments.
- Donor Assistance: Escort and assist donors who experience reactions.
- Mobile Blood Collection Unit Operation: Operate self-contained mobile blood collection units at remote sites, returning to the Blood Center (requires a Class B driver's license).
- Mobile Unit Maintenance: Ensure mobile units are clean, operational, and well-stocked. Inventory and order supplies as needed.
- Equipment Handling: Load, transport, assemble, and dismantle mobile equipment and medical supply boxes. Rearrange furniture at mobile sites when necessary.
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all mobile unit equipment (donor beds, equipment boxes) is operational. Report malfunctions and coordinate repairs.
- Blood Transport: Responsible for safe blood transport to the component laboratory. Maintain proper temperature control using transport boxes/coolers.
- Support Activities: Assist with various support tasks related to blood collection.
- Driver Training: Train new drivers comprehensively, including driving and DRA responsibilities.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to health and safety regulations, maintain confidentiality, and observe privacy and security policies.
- Bloodborne Pathogen Awareness: Be aware of potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
