A top employer in the mortgage industry is looking for a Director of Digital Marketing to join their team.
As the Director of Digital Marketing, you will be a key driver in shaping and executing the company's digital marketing strategies. Your leadership will directly impact our online presence, brand visibility, and customer engagement. Primary responsibilities of the Director of Digital Marketing will include but are not limited to:
1) Website Leadership:
Head of the Website: You'll be the visionary for our website(s) and web presence, focusing on frontend marketing. While not directly involved in backend development, you'll drive user experience, content strategy, and design enhancements. Your understanding of how websites function from a coding standpoint will be valuable.
2) Search Engine Optimization (SEO):
Ownership of SEO: You'll take charge of our SEO strategy across all digital properties. This involves optimizing content, improving technical aspects, and ensuring our web pages rank well organically. Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and high-level PHP will be advantageous.
3) Local Search:
Retail Loan Officer Support: Implement local search tactics to elevate the visibility of our retail loan officers. When potential clients search locally, we want our loan officers to stand out.
4) Vendor Management:
SEM and Digital Advertising Oversight: While not directly executing digital ad campaigns, you'll collaborate with vendors who handle SEM. Your role is to align strategies, monitor performance, and ensure effective ad spend.
5) Team Leadership:
Manage Digital Marketing Team - Indirect Reports: Oversee additional team members (up to 7) indirectly through cross-functional collaboration. This will include 2 Frontend and 2 Backend Developers along with 3 UX team members.
6) Technical Integration and Collaboration:
Collaborate with development teams, technical experts, and external vendors to integrate marketing tools seamlessly.
Coordinate the implementation of APIs, webhooks, and data exchange protocols to enhance marketing campaigns.
Bridge the gap between marketing objectives and technical execution
7) Holistic Approach:
Head of Web, SEO, and Local Search:
• Web: Drive excellence in website design, functionality, and user experience.
• SEO: Optimize search visibility through strategic content and technical enhancements.
• Local Search: Enhance our presence in local markets.
Please keep in mind this position is not ad revenue focused. The employer is not interested in candidates solely focused on revenue generated through Google ads, Facebook ads, or similar.
The employer uses a combination of Wordpress, custom built vendor CMS, and custom code. Their CRM is Salesforce Sales Cloud.
TRAVEL:
Travel will not be a priority for this role but will be involved. He/she could potentially travel for big events (example: leadership summits).
SHIFT/SCHEDULE:
Monday - Friday
8:00am - 5:00pm - roughly 40+ hours per week
Flexible start times based on time zone and personal preference.

- Extensive experience in a web or digital marketing role with a focus on SEO, Local Search, and Web Management; and including experience in leading web focused digital marketing teams.
- Proficiency in understanding and working with APIs. While you won't be writing APIs directly, you'll collaborate closely with developers and technical teams to integrate marketing tools, platforms, and data sources.
- Proven track record of successfully integrating marketing technologies. You'll be the liaison between marketing, IT, and development teams.
- Ability to orchestrate data flows across various systems (e.g., CRM, CMS, analytics tools) to enhance marketing automation and personalization.
- Coding Literacy: You should be comfortable reading and comprehending coding languages, including:
HTML: Understand the structure of web pages.
CSS: Appreciate styling and layout.
High-Level PHP: Familiarity with server-side scripting.
Ability to assess product coding correctness.
- Professional experience and literacy in web based integrations
- Google Business Savvy: Understand local search dynamics. Implement Google best practices and trends to boost our presence.
- What We Don't Want is someone ad revenue focused: We're not interested in candidates solely focused on revenue generated through ads (Google, Facebook, etc).
- Proven professional background in implementing the above requirements within a mortgage company or a similar financial institution setting.
- Vendor Familiarity: Exposure to platforms like WP Engine or Pantheon
- Agency Experience: If you've led a team in a web agency, executing client work, that's a plus.
- Solutions Consultant Background: If you've provided strategic solutions in this space.
- Professional
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or related field.
