Job Description

A top employer in the mortgage industry is looking for an Investor Accounting Specialist to join their team. This person is required to sit near San Diego, CA, as they will work on a hybrid schedule (2 days onsite, 3 days remote). This is a contract role covering for a leave of absence for roughly 3 months with potential to extend beyond that. The Investor Accounting Specialist plays an important role in the organization by performing a number of activities related to the companys Loan Servicing functions. The role is responsible for maintaining investor records and files, posting accounts, and tracking and maintaining financial records for third-party investors who have retained the companys mortgage servicing services. He or she also reconciles custodial bank accounts and ensures accurate administration (main responsibility in this role).

Some responsibilities of the Investor Accounting Specialist will include but are not limited to:
Prepare reconciliations for all Investor Reporting Custodial and Loan Servicing Accounts.
Respond to requests from Corporate Accounting related to clearing/reconciling items.
Maintain accurate records and files in accordance with contractual, compliance, and investor requirements to ensure accurate portfolio administration.
Prepare bank reconciliations of Investor Reporting Custodial Accounts, including CCA, and DCA.
Implement wire transfers, process bank deposits, stop payments, and voids.
Complete NSF Review and communicate findings to the Check Processing department.
Prepare Daily payoff funds received reports and submit to Cashiering for processing.
Prepare investor accounting and special management reports, as directed.
Identify and report trends to manager.
Provide files and documents related to external and internal audits.
Research and resolve returned check payments from banks.
Research payments made by Loan Servicing department.
Perform other duties as assigned.

SOFTWARE/PROGRAMS:
- Microsoft Excel is the primary tool the Investor Accounting Specialist will use in this role. We are seeking someone with advanced Excel skills

SHIFT/SCHEDULE:
Monday - Friday - roughly 40 hours per week
Hybrid schedule:
- 2 days onsite, 3 days remote - you choose your preference
- Flex start time from 6am - 8am PT (static weekly schedule)

Required Skills & Experience

- Minimum 3 years' experience reconciling bank accounts - high volume
- Bachelors degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, etc
- Strong knowledge and proficiency with accounting principles and concepts: debits and credits, cash flow requirements, bank reconciliations, etc.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills: VLOOKUPs, IF statements, formulas, etc.

- Professional experience coming from a financial institution or mortgage industry
