Job Description

Insight Global seeking a skilled Fastener Engineer to join our team on behalf of one of our top-tier automotive clients. Day to Day

1. Joint Design and Analysis:

* Collaborate with responsible design groups to create and optimize joints for Tesla products.

* Perform torque/load calculations to ensure the integrity of each joint.

* Analyze and design various types of joints, from bolts to rivets, considering factors like torque, clamp load, and friction.

2. Torque Value Creation:

* Develop torque values based on design requirements for different joints.

* Create and validate torque values for criticality level joints, including Rotary Tool, Residual, and Repair Torque.

3. Process Optimization:

* Continuously improve production processes related to fasteners.

* Work closely with production teams to address quality and process-related torque/clamp load issues.

4. Project Management:

* Implement correct torque values for both in-house and Tier-assembled joints.

* Manage joint verification processes and ensure proper torque implementation.

5. Documentation and Testing:

* Maintain thorough documentation of procedures and relevant information.

* Collaborate with the Joining/Fastener Laboratory to prioritize, execute, and report joint tests (including destructive and non-destructive tests).

6. Joint Validation and Resourcing:

* Validate fastener/interface changes resulting from re-sourcing activities.

* Improve the Joint Calculator by enhancing data precision and user interface

Required Skills & Experience

Must Haves

* Engineering Degree

* Minimum of 2-3 years, of experience in fastener engineering or related field

* Understanding of the interactions between the torque, clamp load, friction

* CAD experience, candidate needs to understand 2D and 3D designs

* Experience with GD&T and quality control

Understanding high- volume manufacturing procedures and tools
