Job Description
An employer is looking for a Project Engineer for a Natural Gas Client in Souther California. This position will play a crucial role in the planning, execution, and management of projects related to the transportation and distribution of natural gas. Your expertise will contribute to the safe and efficient operation of gas pipelines and infrastructure.
1. Design and Planning:
-Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop project plans, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry standards, scope, schedule, and budget.
- Apply technical knowledge to create detailed designs for gas transmission systems, including pipelines, compressor stations, and related facilities.
- Evaluate project feasibility, considering factors such as terrain, environmental impact, and cost-effectiveness.
2. Project Execution:
- Oversee project implementation, coordinating with contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Oversee materials selection, inspect projects, and evaluate compliance to regulations and codes through regular inspection of work-in-progress projects.
- Identifying required materials based on design specifications and project plans. Liaising with suppliers to procure materials. Quality control around materials making sure they meet required standards and specs. Coordinating with construction teams to coordinate delivery and use of materials according to project schedules and priorities.
- Monitor construction progress, ensuring adherence to specifications and timelines.
- Provide technical support and guidance with field walks during construction activities. Site inspections and ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulatory standards.
- Act in a project support role for key construction and maintenance activities, provide engineering design experience to key projects.
- Troubleshoot technical issues during construction and propose solutions.
3. Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Conduct inspections to verify compliance with design specifications and safety protocols.
- Collaborate with regulatory agencies to obtain necessary permits and approvals.
- Ensure that all project documentation is accurate and up to date.
4. Risk Management:
- Identify potential risks and hazards associated with pipeline projects and help develop mitigation strategies to ensure safety.
- Monitor project risks throughout the lifecycle and take corrective actions as needed.
5. Stakeholder Communication:
- Communicate project status, milestones, and challenges to project managers, team members, and external stakeholders.
- Address inquiries from regulatory bodies, landowners, and community members.
6. Budget and Cost Control:
- Assist in preparing project budgets and cost estimates.
- Monitor expenses and track project costs to ensure adherence to budget constraints
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
- 2-5 Years experience in natural gas transmission projects, pipeline design, or related infrastructure.
-Proficiency in project management software and engineering tools.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Reliable care and Driver's License (will be expected to drive to field sites 2-3 days a week around Southern California (Ventura, Bakersfield, Del Mar)
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
