The Surgical Materials Assistant is responsible for supporting the operations of the Surgical Materials Department for 2 on-site medical centers. The Surgical Materials Assistant will participate in the activities/duties of the Department by the following policy and procedure for breakout, storage and product return of sterile items for use in the surgical setting. Performs basic order entry, inventory management, par cart supply, and surgical case cart build. Participates in the departmental patient safety and performance
improvement initiatives. Performs related duties as assigned.
- Builds case carts for basic surgical procedures with a fill accuracy rate of 100% as verified by department audits and/or observation of Lead/Supervisor
- Inventories and restocks surgical suites and surgical core supplies
- Manages information utilizing appropriate manual or electronic systems for shift work activity
- Performs inventory management of specific supplies and "Caddies" and restocks PAR cart for surgical use
- Performs order entry in PMM. Generates the appropriate purchase requisitions for products needed and sends to appropriate department
*Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 6am-2:30pm*
2 years relevant experience handling surgical materials and equipment
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Knowledge of computer systems and basic computer skills
