A prominent research institute in San Diego is seeking a Lab Operations Associate to join their team. This person is responsible for executing routine lab maintenance, consumable ordering and stocking, and equipment maintenance for the Biology, Chemistry, and Pharmacology labs and their users. Assist staff with laboratory staff needs and ensures adherence to lab standards and practices to maximize safety and operational effectiveness. Duties will include the coordination of lab inventory management and maintain supplies, lab ware, and instruments. Other duties include:
· Maintain general laboratory environment by promoting and assisting with cleanliness, organization, and space saving projects.
· Procure necessary equipment for staff experiments including identifying justification for prior to purchase.
· Maintain equipment list and new equipment onboarding to include updating equipment information and asset tagging
· Prepare disposal forms and update asset list for offboarding equipment while communicating with finance for asset tracking
· Arrange and schedule preventative maintenance, calibration, repairs and/or service on equipment to ensure instruments are working properly.
· Communicate with external support from vendors to troubleshoot routine equipment issues.
· Maintain and update Lab Operations inventory list to reflect essential supplies for lab operations.
· Provide inventory and routine ordering of stock including consumables, first aid items and PPE.
· Assist with answering the receiving phone for deliveries, and receipt reconciliation for packages received.
· Proactive communication with end users on lab organization, scheduled maintenance of equipment, status updates, and issues that may impact lab use.
· Provide initial response for in-house laboratory needs including follow through on identified tasks and follow-up communication with affected parties.
· Escort service vendors for equipment maintenance and repairs.
· Prepare lab bench space for onboarding staff and assure exiting employees conclude all pertinent activities.
· Responsible for lab notebook distribution and tracking for all lab projects.
· Oversee all shipping needs of staff to include preparing documents needed for shipment and organizing pickups.
