Job Description
An employer is looking for a Payroll Manager sitting in the Pasadena, CA area. They will be overseeing the process of timely and accurate weekly, biweekly, and monthly multi-state, non-union, and union payrolls for subsidiaries. This person will be managing a team of 3-4 payroll administrators. They will review payrolls and transmit payroll files to ADP on weekly/biweekly basis. This person will be adhering to payroll best practices, guidelines, and procedures. They will be recommending automation and improvement on payroll related processes. This person will coordinate timekeeping (Oracle Time and Labor) and payroll systems and will be overseeing the processing of payroll changes (e.g., new hires, terminations, raises). They will be reviewing manual checks and wires. The Payroll Manager will be the integral part during conversions and acquisitions. This person will be ensuring compliance with relevant federal, state, and local laws. They will also coordinate with auditors on SOX, internal, and external audits. They will be coordinating testing on new extensions, system upgrades, new calculation set ups, projects, and data analyses. This person will be working together with Human Resources (HR) and Accounting teams to reconcile discrepancies. This person is coordinating Workers Compensation and Multiple Work Site location reports on a quarterly basis. They will be coordinating SUI rate changes, updating and investigating ADP charges to the rates on ADP invoices for accuracy. They will be assisting to resolve any tax variances presented by the payroll tax accountant. Lastly, they will be working with IT on testing new processes and interfaces.
Required Skills & Experience
- 3+ years of experience as a payroll manager
- Experience processing over 5000+ employees
- Multistate payroll experience
- Proven leadership experience
- Current knowledge of payroll procedures and related laws
- Familiarity with payroll software ADP Vantage or WFN, ADPR reporting
- Experience in system implementations
- Knowledge of labor and payroll tax laws
- BSC/BA in Business Administration, Accounting, Human Resources or a related field
- CPP designation is required
- Understanding of federal, state, and local payroll regulations and union contracts
- Strong excel and analytical skills
