Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a Geologist / Environmental Scientist to work within the EOC Environmental Restoration Group of one of our largest environmental firms. This candidate needs experience working with ground water, preferably installing ground water monitoring wells. A typical project that they work on will require them going out and marking locations for sampling through meeting and working with utility companies. They will then coordinate with the drillers and guide them as they bring up soil samples. They will then analyze the soil and log/document info using build forms. They will also oversee the installations of water wells and help with the development to then sample the ground water that will be tested. Furthermore, they will be analyzing these results so must have a technical writing background for reports and experience analyzing data. Must be able to travel up to 2 weeks per month!



Job Responsibilities:

- Support in the execution of field investigations by performing field tests, collecting samples, collecting, and recording data, and performing routine calculations

- Prepare a variety of standard field forms (such as soil boring and well installation logs, daily reports, and chain of custody forms)

- Conduct Phase I and Phase II Environmental Baseline Surveys

- Approximately 50 -- 75% of time will be spent working in the field at remote sites with a mix of office related work

- Assist with compliance of regulatory agency permits to support environmental investigations and remediation

- Review and interpret environmental, geological, and historical records to support environmental investigations

- Identify and implement solutions to both routine and more complex field problems and document them accurately, keeping the project manager informed of problems encountered during work

- Support tasks associated with the compilation of data and preparation of various reports

- Support and complete tasks within specific budget and schedule constraints

- Provide oversight of subcontractors performing work to ensure project objectives are being met and work is being completed in a safe manner

- Interact in a professional manner with client and subcontractor representatives in collaboration with project/program managers

Required Skills & Experience

- Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or related discipline

- 1-5 years of relevant experience in contaminated site investigations

- Experience conducting investigations including: sampling, boil borings, well installation, and subcontractor oversight

- Strong oral and written communication skills

- Ability to travel: will be expected to travel up to 2 weeks every month to any of the Western States (Washington, Oregon, California, Texas, Idaho)

-Need to have direct experience with installing groundwater monitoring wells and direct drilling experience. Doesn't want candidates with oil/gas background. Target groundwater/soil!

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Experience and/or certifications in HAZWOPER, GIS, etc.

-Phase 1 and Phase 2 environmental baseline assessment
