PlutoTV is seeking a Software Engineer with a emphasis in a data environment to join their Data Streaming Application team. This team uses Kafka to ingest all the real time events and flow from the Pluto app, and they are undergoing a migration from AWS/Kafka to GCP/Pub/Sub. There are 5 other engineers on the Data Streaming side, and 6 engineers on the ETL side of the team. The migration will be the biggest focus for the next 6 months, but there are multiple applications that need to be rewritten as well. This person will help with the migration, modernizing legacy code, designing, building, and deploying new microservices. This role will consist of new development and enhancement of existing systems and features that power the content systems. This person should be ready and willing to actively participate in discussions around design architecture of features and services.
5+ years of experience as a software engineer, doing migrations from Kafka to Pub/Sub
Strong hands-on experience within GCP - Google Cloud Platform
Recent, relevant experience with Pub/Sub and Kafka
Expert level Java experience as primary scripting language
Extensive experience with GCP Dataflow - application dev specific
Strong experience with Apache Beam
Experience using BigQuery
Industry experience in video streaming, OTT, Social Platforms, CRM tools, Direct to consumer marketing, Ecommerce
