Job Description
The MOLS Planner/Buyer works with the Material Operations team, customer groups (PTD, Research, DevSci), external suppliers, Vendor Managed Inventory teams (Ricoh, ULS, Avantor), and Procurement departments to purchase, store, and distribute research materials. Accountabilities include maintaining proper warehouse inventory to fulfill demand requirements, receiving, handling, booking and distribution of consumables and reagents, demand forecasting, and other procurement activities. This role is responsible for fostering strong partnerships with our stakeholders and maintain excellent communication. In addition, the MOLS Planner/Buyer manages the warehouse and cabinet inventories, becoming proficient with the gSupply/Reagent inventory management and procurement systems.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage and maintain warehouse inventory flow, from ordering, receiving, booking, and to distribution. Maintain/improve inventory process that minimizes costs for inventory, handling reduction, and shrinkage while ensuring timely delivery of materials to end users.
Use the existing inventory management system and forecasting methodology to procure and secure materials. Become proficient with an inventory management tool to maximize the utilization of inventory.
Identify underperforming areas in the supply chain and suggest product alternatives and inventory adjustments.
Manage direct vendor purchases.
Setup/create orders, analyze inventory data, and resolve inquiries and discrepancies.
Serve as material liaison with vendors and end users in addressing quality issues.
Work with vendors for backorder/standing orders and price quotations.
Work with procurement systems MyBuy and Procurement team for purchase orders and invoicing.
Ensure a balanced material inventory management plan that allows to further decrease in material and logistical costs.
Maintain routine interactions and partnerships with end users, suppliers, and procurement for purchasing, distributing research materials, and monitoring customer satisfaction.
Assist within the MOLS organization as required in the Centralized Services, Receiving group, Distribution team, Storage & Disposition.
Required Skills & Experience
Requirements:
* AA/Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience with 1+ buying experience and 1+ warehouse management experience
* Understanding of procurement, ERP or inventory management systems
* Demonstrated strong computer skills (Google Sheets, Excel, Data analytics)
* Customer service organization -- great soft skills, communication across clients (scientist level, assistants, offering alternative of materials)
