Job Description
An employer is looking for a DevOps Manager to join their team out of San Diego, CA. This will be a hands-on role with expertise in AWS and experience managing small teams in a high-growth environment. You will be responsible for primarily guiding/mentoring engineers, managing the cloud accounts, DevOps tools, pipeline automation, infrastructure landscape/architecting AWS, and collaborating with partners in QA, Security, Data Analytics, and Software Engineering. The organization is looking for operational maturity and have efforts for cost optimization and right sizing their environment. As well as disaster recovery efforts for business continuity.
Responsibilities include:
-Leading, coaching, and performance managing a team of 2 DevOps Engineers
-Planning, directing, and coordinating all activities and initiatives for department
-Hands-on work managing the cloud accounts, DevOps tools, pipeline automation, infrastructure landscape/architecting AWS
-Collaborating and building strong cross-functional partnerships
Required Skills & Experience
1-3 years of experience in a leadership role managing a high-performing engineering team
5+ years of experience in a DevOps or Cloud Engineering role
Experience with AWS, working with multiple services including: S3, VPC, RDS, OpenSearch, CloudFront, Lambda, ELB, & ECS, EKS or Fargate
Experience with containers, orchestration tools, and container management in Docker and/or Kubernetes
Experience with Cloudflare CDN, WAF, and Bot management
Experience assisting software development teams with design concepts related to enterprise specifications and implementation of various open-source technologies - strong understanding of SDLC
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Experience with Terraform (preferred), Cloudformation or OpsWorks
Experience with APM and Monitoring tools, such as, DataDog, NewRelic and Dynatrace
Experience designing and implementing disaster recovery strategies
Knowledge of cloud security management: VPCs, firewalls, zero trust model, etc.
