A leading pharmaceutical client is hiring a Senior Scientist to join the Drug Product Design team withing R&D. The purpose of this position is to advance the early candidate substrate from a chemical, physical, drug delivery, and bio performance perspective through collaboration with partners on the Discovery project teams and Pharmaceutical Science. This person will design and develop fit for purpose preclinical formulations to enable robust candidate selection and progression. Serve as a resident pharmaceutical science subject matter expert to inform, educate, and influence the discovery teams in finding New Chemical Entities (NCEs) with desirable drug delivery and performance properties. To do so, they will assess silico in vitro and in vivo data as well as design stage appropriate formulations for preclinical studies and assess solid form aspects of molecular substrate and communicate risks. To be successful in the role, there will need to be awareness of later stage development needs as well as an understanding of the disease state and biology will help to enable the definition of the required design elements.
10 years' experience in Pharmaceutical industry experience
PhD in Pharmaceutics, Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, or Biophysics
Experience doing design of typical formulation approaches and routes of administration across multiple species
Experience with computational chemistry tools to predict physical properties and the translation of molecular properties to predict bio performance
Experience modeling oral absorption phenomena and the interpretation of in vitro/in vivo ADME data
Application of fundamental principles to solve complex problems
Strong organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
